Anthropic and U.S. officials meet over export curbs on cybersecurity AI models.
Senior Anthropic technical staff were scheduled to meet U.S. Commerce Department officials after the U.S. government ordered the company to suspend access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models for foreign nationals. Anthropic said it disabled access globally in response to the directive. The U.S. government cited national security concerns and reportedly believed a safeguard in Fable 5 could be bypassed to identify software vulnerabilities. Anthropic said the bypass found only minor flaws comparable to those found by other publicly available models. More than 80 cybersecurity executives and experts signed a letter asking the administration to lift the restrictions.
