FBI warns Silent Ransom Group is sending people in person to steal data.
The FBI warned that Silent Ransom Group, also known as Luna Moth, Chatty Spider, and UNC3753, is targeting U.S. law firms with social engineering and physical intrusion tactics. Attackers pose as IT support, call or email employees, and try to get remote desktop access; if that fails, they may send someone physically to the office to plug in a USB drive or external disk. The group steals data and then extorts victims by threatening to leak or sell it. The FBI says organizations should verify IT-support identities, restrict external-drive use, train staff, and use phishing-resistant MFA.
