Researchers from Symantec and Carbon Black reported that an unknown actor gained long-running access to a senior executive’s mailbox at an unnamed global stock exchange. The attacker reportedly exfiltrated emails over several months, using legitimate tools and Dropbox-based command-and-control to blend into normal traffic. The case matters because exchange executives can hold non-public information about listings, enforcement actions, deals, and market-moving events.
